The 2024-2025 Centerville Bulldogs won the Sectional for the first time since the 2010-2011 season. In the opening round of Sectional play the Patriots of Union County kept things close through 3 quarters. The Bulldogs entered the final period up just 3 points before exploding with a 30-point quarter cruising to a 62-48 win. The Bulldogs were paced by 3 double figure scorers. Ethan Vecera led all scorers with 15 points. Shea Hollendonner had 14 points. Landyn Keiser had 10 points. Jace Hollendonner 7 points, Bryson Brown 6 points, Keith Plyley Jr. 4 points, Coltyn Keiser 2 points. In the second round of Sectional Play the Bulldogs overwhelmed the Winchester Falcons both defensively and offensively in a rout 68-40. Brothers Shea Hollendonner and Jace Hollendonner led the Bulldogs with 14 points and 12 points. Bryson Brown 9 points, Landyn Keiser 8 points, Keith Plyley Jr., Ethan Vecera, and Kaden McCord with 6 points each, Jonah Cornett 3 points, Kyle Dickenson and Coltyn Keiser with 2 points each. In the Sectional Championship Game the Bulldogs eliminated their rival the Northeastern Knights before a sold out gym 61-57. The Bulldogs led after 1 quarter, but the shots did not fall in the second quarter and the Knights went into halftime with a 4-point lead. The Bulldogs regained the lead after 3 quarters. The game was back and forth in the 4th quarter before the Bulldogs pulled away late. Several key plays down the stretch secured the victory for Bulldogs. It was a total team effort on a historic and memorable night. Shea and Jace Hollendonner once again paced the Bulldog scoring with 18 and 16 points. Ethan Vecera finished with 10 points. Landyn Keiser had 7 points. Bryson Brown had 6 points. Kaden McCord and Keith Plyley Jr. each had 2 points. The Bulldogs fell to Parke Heritage 47-41 in Regional play. While the game was tight the entire way, the pivotal plays, shots and calls seemed to go in favor of Parke Heritage all night including a desperation heave at mid court at the end of the half that went through the net giving the Wolves a critical 3-point advantage. While the Bulldogs cut the lead to a single possession multiple times in the second half, the Bulldogs could not get the lead before the Wolves played keep away late in the 4th quarter. The Wolves hit 11 free throws in the final period to secure the win. Landyn Keiser led the Bulldogs with 16 points only missing one shot on the night (a shot at the buzzer at the end of the 1st quarter). Shea Hollendonner battled inside for a hard fought 12 points. Ethan Vecera 4 points, Jace Hollendonner 4 points, Kaden McCord 3 points and Bryson Brown 2 points. In addition to a Sectional Championship the Bulldogs reached 20 wins on the season. The 20 wins in a season is tied for the most wins ever. The last time a Centerville Team reached 20 wins was in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. With no seniors the Bulldogs with enter the 2025-2026 season with high expectations. Goals will be to regain the TEC and County Championships, repeat as Sectional 44 Champions and go deeper into tournament play. The Bulldogs finished the season as the best team in the Wayne County. For the first time in school history the Centerville Bulldogs beat all 5 Wayne County schools in the same season Richmond, Northeastern, Cambridge City, Hagerstown, and Seton. It was a great year to be a Bulldog and the future remains bright. In 8 short months the Bulldogs will take the court again in what could be a record setting and memorable year. Let's go Dawgs!!!!
