Centerville, #3 in 2A in that latest USA Poll (also a IBCA top 30) picked up a pair of road wins in the TEC against Hagerstown and Knightstown. The Bulldogs were on the road against Hagerstown last Thursday night with a near capacity crowd. The Bulldogs had limited opportunity to practice prior to the matchup due to weather related school closings, and the Tigers took advantage pushing tempo, never allowing the Bulldogs to ever pull away or take control of the game. It was a great battle of two well coached and talented teams, but the Bulldogs survived 56-44. The Dawgs were led once again by star senior Shea Hollendonner who finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Jace Hollendonner was in double figures with 12 points and added 4 steals. Landyn Keiser had 9 points and 7 rebounds. Ethan Vecera found the openings and finished with 8 assists, 8 points and 4 steals. Bryson Brown found his way to the rim for 7 points. Kaden McCord, Keith Plyley Jr., and Landen Schlotterbeck all provided key minutes and stepped up defensively forcing a cold shooting night for the Tigers. In the Knightstown contest Saturday night the Bulldogs pushed the ball early and often jumping out to a 26-8 lead after 1 quarter. The bulldogs kept the pace and went into halftime with a 51-17 advantage. The running clock started shortly into the 3rd quarter and the Dawgs cruised to a 78-40 TEC road win. A pair of senior Bulldogs led the scoring attack. Shea Hollendonner finished with 18 points and 4 steals. Landyn Keiser finished with double double, 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jace Hollendonner reached double figures with 14 points but also had a team and season high 6 steals. Ethan Vecera finished with a team high 5 assists and 8 points. Keith Plyley Jr. and Bryson Brown were both perfect from the field and each finished with 6 points. Landen Schlotterbeck had 4 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. Quenten Lopeman recovering from a foot injury finally saw his first game minutes of the season and finished with 4 points. Kaden McCord also returning from injury got his first start of the season and provided rim protection while adding 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. In JV action the Bulldogs crushed both Hagerstown and Knightstown 64-30 and 79-30. Scoring for the JV Dawgs at Hagerstown: Schlotterbeck 11, C. Keiser, Stewart and Johnson 9 each, Thornburg and Grubbs 6 each, Boyle, Kenny and Golden 4 each, and Bain with 2. In the Knightstown game 12 Bulldogs scored and 4 reached double figures. C. Keiser 13, Kenny and Stewart 12 each, Thornburg 10, Walter and Bain with 8 each, Grubbs 5, Mull 3, Jennings, Taylor, Shadle and Schlotterbeck 2 each. Spears contributing with rebounds and blocks. For the first time in School History the combined Varsity, JV and C-team record is 13-1. The only blemish to the record being a JV loss on opening night with a stack of injuries being a contributing factor. As Dawgs get healthy the toughest stretch of the year begins, starting with the Ray Furney Classic in Lawrenceburg on Jan 2nd and 3rd. The 2-day shootout is filled with top 20 teams in the state. No matter what pool or bracket you end up in there will be no easy wins. Make the trip down to Lawrenceburg to support your Centerville Bulldogs as they continue on with this historic season. Great day to be a Bulldog!!
